There is, perhaps, nothing more exciting than to see the machines that made America great. It all started on the river, from the canoe to the trapper's Bateux. The Industrial Age saw the development of the riverboat--and slave labor--and waiting on the levy for the boats to dock. But, the machine that did more to create the America we know today was the steam locomotove.

Union Pacific's Challenger
rolls into Boonville, MO, 1993

Lammers has documented on video some of the largest, most powerful trains America has ever known, including the Missouri Kansas & Texas Railroad and the Union Pacific. The MKT RR, or Katy, gave easy access to Indian Territory. As the railroad expanded it played an important role in the Midwest for more than a century. In 1988 it was sold to the Union Pacific and was retired soon thereafter.
